JZ Knight Advocates Personal Sovereignty, Denounces 2012 Apocalyptic Fear

Today we feature a requested guest post – an article written by JZ Knight, leader of the Ramtha School of Enlightenment. The article addresses the large amount of ‘hysteria’ in the news regarding the possibility of the end of the world in 2012. It also includes some discussion of imminent planetary changes, as well as what we might do about that today and why.

Whatever you believe about 2012, the end of the world, or what Justin Deering has coined “The Secular Apocalypse,” i.e. climate change, we think you’ll find some points of interest in this piece.

Personal Sovereignty is Crucial in the Face of Planetary Change

Don’t run up your credit cards to their maximum limit in December waiting for the Apocalypse — 2013 is coming soon.

Some reporters and apocalyptic people believe the world will end soon because of their interpretations of the Mayan calendar ending on Sunday, December 23, 2012. In my opinion, this date unsettles many people because many religious traditions contain an apocalyptic end for civilization. References to a fiery, bloodletting war culminating in a catastrophic and nightmarish end for humanity are contained within the doctrines of Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, the spiritual New Age, and others.

Further, the underpinnings of 2012 go far beyond the religious communities, winding their way into numerous sects, as the underlying tones of these prophecies have been “seen” by prophets, visionaries, psychics, mediums, and shamans of all persuasions. Countless books by authors such as Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, Graham Hancock, Zecharia Sitchin, Peter Russell, Whitley Strieber, to name a few, have added to the growing fear of a worldwide catastrophe for 2012. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012, an assumption that a “fade-to-black” is coming.

Recently, National Geographic News explained the “long-count” Mayan calendar will reach the end of a cycle at the end of this year, but that era — about 5,125 years starting in 3114 B.C. — only means a new era begins in 2013. William Saturno, an expert on Mayan archaeology at Boston University, found evidence that the Mayans did not predict the end of the world, but the end of a long-cycle era. He led an expedition in Guatemala that discovered a Maya mural with calculations dating some 7,000 years in the future. The National Geographic Daily News quoted Saturno, who said “We keep looking for endings. The Maya were looking for a guarantee that nothing would change. It’s an entirely different mindset…so much for the supposed end of the world.”

We know what many religions say, but what are scientists saying about the end of the world? When science weighs in on our immediate environmental future, we tend to sit up and notice. Science takes the issue of global change from prophecy into fact. The annoying fear-mongering, lunatic fringe elements and purveyors of doom take a backseat in our minds to the scientific light that shines bright.

This is the hottest decade in centuries for America, marked with record heat waves, droughts and powerful, frequent storms and tornadoes. The planetary crisis exists due to our technological development, reliance on oil energy, and population explosion. The political choice to ignore these future consequences has placed us on a head-on collision course with the planet’s ecosystems that are intrinsic for sustaining our own life. Humanity has caused global warming, and day by day the dangers are growing into a planetary emergency. Our polar icecaps are melting at alarming rates. Sea levels are rising. Mountain glaciers, which provide us with our drinking water, are melting. Mountain snowcaps are disappearing. Some landmasses are sinking, and rivers and lakes are disappearing.

At Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment (RSE), we understand that the end of every cycle is a time of transition and renewal. The year 2012 will roll over into the year 2013, and then into 2014 and so on. In The Last Waltz of the Tyrants, released in 1989, Ramtha states: “By the year 2042 the Earth will look again like the times that I knew it, with lush green growth and life and the bluest skies and cleanest water. That is its destiny.” With this view, RSE is confident that the end of the world is not imminent. Nature is competent, capable, and will continue for many more long-count cycles.

Since the 1980s, RSE has championed the concept of personal sovereignty, in which individuals and their families become self-reliant and self-confident enough to be a resource rather than a burden to their community. Some of Earth’s transitions will naturally be difficult for us, so it is highly important for everyone to maintain a certain level of self-reliance.

To heal the earth, we have to change the way we live. The skills of the past must be learned in the present, starting with learning to grow our own food, beginning with vegetables. Plow up lawns and flowers and plant food. Empty flower pots and plant tomatoes, potatoes, squash, and herbs, as an example, and fertilize them organically. Put live plants in the home and office space, as they remove the carbon from the air and release clean oxygen. Store enough food, water, medical supplies, and clothing — especially warm clothing — for two years.

Those who live by the oceans may want to rethink of the vulnerability living next to the water and consider moving to higher ground. Some of Earth’s transitions will naturally be difficult for us, so it is highly important to maintain a certain level of self-reliance.

The outlook for our world going through imminent change is bleak, at best. But we are not without the resources of will, inspiration, and a desire to dispense with the greed that placed us on the precipice. We can choose to either tether into an abyss or have a second chance of moving onward to a brighter future. It’s up to us — no kidding and no hype!

The planet is clearly changing rapidly and preparation is the key to survival. It is not difficult to prepare, just start. Having a plan for emergencies is never a bad idea, as these respected leaders have so eloquently presented:

Ramtha predicted over three decades ago that our world will renew itself in time, but until that time comes the best preparation is self-sufficiency. That will be our greatest ally through the end of 2012 and beyond.
